Nik Wallenda visited Kings Island Friday afternoon, July 24, to scope out the site of his highest stunt ever. Scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 15, the stunt will find Wallenda walk from the park’s entrance to the Eiffel Tower on an 801 foot high wire 264 feet above the ground.

The Franklin Fire Department Fire Explorers program trains local youth using an application process similar to Franklin firefighters, as a way to educate them, get their foot in the door and hopefully retain them for future careers. The participants, aged 14 to 18, meet the first three Thursdays of every month and work shifts at the station. Currently, they're training for an explorer competition on Aug. 29 when they'll compete in eight events.
